		<description>I realize that this is not supposed to be a history of religious communities in Northern Africa, but the article does elide over the fact of a Christian presence in Northern Africa prior to Islamization (and that&#039;s a big omission!). I also seem to remember reading somewhere that conversion to Islam in Northern Africa was complex, and while conquest played a role in the spread of the religion, so did friendly practices like trade and pilgrimage. I think it&#039;s cool that someone&#039;s doing work on Algerian Jewish Foodways. Sounds delicious!</description>
