What: A Dinner from the Heartland: Traditional Iowa Foods
When: June 3 at 7PM
Description: SPECIAL DINNER #59

We're so excited about full-flavored, traditional foods (and the great people and stories behind that food!) coming out of the Hawkeye State, that we're hosting a dinner to learn about some of our favorite dishes from Iowa.  Our special guest, Paul Willis, who oversees Niman Ranch's network of hog farms, is passionate about the preservation of family farming.

James Beard-nominated Chef Alex has crafted a menu highlighting the sometimes obscure, but incredibly flavorful foods from this Midwest state.  We're bringing the best of Iowa to your plate with Niman Ranch pork, grass-fed beef from Jacqueline Venner (a long-time deli staff member's family farm), Fritz Maytag's famous handmade, small-batch blue cheese made with milk from Iowa's famous Holstein cattle, and much more!  Also on the menu are the fascinating stories and history behind each of the dishes and ingredients served.

Want to learn more about Paul Willis and his work with Niman Ranch?  Check out the YouTube video, as well as this beautiful slide show from his ranch in Thornton, Iowa.
