Meet the smiles that light up the Roadhouse!
Our Roadhouse crew is known for their above-and-beyond commitment to service. They’re so focused on making sure you have an excellent Zingerman’s experience that they’ve earned prestigious James Beard award nominations for Outstanding Hospitality two years in a row. If you’ve dined at the Roadhouse, you’ve met some of these sparkling folks. We’d like to give you the pleasure of getting to know the people that make our all-American spot so special.
Delbert Williams
What do you do at the Roadhouse?
I am the Roadhouse Steward. I do a little of everything, like put deliveries away, clean the restaurant, and keep things organized. I’ve been here for almost 17 years. I started about 4 months after the Roadhouse opened.
What is your favorite thing on the Roadhouse menu?
I love our Roadhouse mac and cheese!
What is your favorite Roadshow beverage?
Espresso, but I don’t really drink much coffee.
What is your favorite food from another Zingerman’s business?
I love the Bakehouse cakes. The coffee cakes are my favorite, any flavor.
If you had to choose, fried chicken or BBQ?
Fried chicken, I like our spicy batter.
Do you have any nicknames?
D. I told people to just start calling me that a long time ago.
Favorite music?
Gospel music, which I listen to early in the morning when I’m working, starting at 6am
Where did you grow up?
Right here in Ann Arbor. I went to Wines Elementary, Forsythe Middle School, and Pioneer High School.
What are some of your favorite things?
Fishing mostly. I like to fish the Huron, Ford lake, Milan, Monroe, and the River Raisin. I like to catch and release, and I will catch just about anything. I am a smallmouth bass master, though.
I also love traveling. My family has a resort in Orlando, 5 minutes away from Disney. I used to go to Disney all the time as a kid, not so much as an adult. I fish and party like a rock star while I’m down there! I go to the beach every day, especially for the 4th of July.
What do you like about working at the Roadhouse?
The people!
Who are your dream dinner guests?
Jim Harbaugh. I am a huge Michigan Wolverine fan.
