Special Event: The Return of the Heirloom Tomato Dinner
Join us for our favorite part of the summer—tomato season!
Tuesday, August 29th at 7:00pm
Back by popular demand, the infamous Tomato Dinner will return to the Roadhouse on Tuesday, August 29th! We couldn’t be more excited to welcome back all of you to savor juicy, ripe heirloom tomatoes from three local farms. Come join us as we indulge in the tomato bounty of Tamchop Farm, We the People Opportunity Farm, and Good Neighbor Farm. The Roadhouse has not hosted a tomato dinner since pre-pandemic days, and we do not want you to miss this highly-anticipated, well-loved dinner, complete with four courses of luscious tomatoes that Chef Bob will prepare in the most delicious ways imaginable.
But first, before the appetizer hits the table, indulge in our full Tomato Bar, filled with fresh heirloom tomatoes, Zingerman’s Creamery Mozzarella, fresh basil, and artisanal olive oil. Dress up your tomatoes as they were meant to be, with aged balsamic vinegar, Tellicherry black pepper, Fleur de Sel sea salt and IASA peperoncino. Fill up your plate as many times as you can!
To start your meal, relish the explosive flavors of cherry tomatoes and fresh herbs baked to perfection in a crème frâiche tart. Then, be delighted with a chilled soup boasting of memorable tastiness, made with locally-farmed tomatoes and cucumber in tomato broth, with torn bread and sliced almonds.
After diving into the delectable tomato bar and appetizers, treat your taste buds to your choice of mouthwatering entrée! Our traditional shrimp boil, prepared with wild-caught North Carolina shrimp, tomatoes, corn, and potatoes in tomato broth, will be sure to sweep you off your feet. For our meatless lovers, revel in an ensemble of Stoney Creek King Trumpet smoked mushrooms, braised in a sumptuous tomato sauce.
Even dessert features tomatoes! Cozy up at the end of the meal with a pistachio meringue cake made with candied tomatoes! Plated up with cardamom caramel and whipped cream, this dessert is sure to be a showstopper.
Do not miss the return of our special tomato dinner! You can expect a night filled with deliciousness that will leave you dreaming for days to come. See you soon!
