French Toast Latté at the Roadshow

Now serving this super-tasty November special.

If you’re in the market for a comforting, wonderful, energizing way to consume your autumn coffee, you might want to consider swinging by the Roadshow to get one of these terrific French Toast lattés. Pretty much everyone on staff at the Roadhouse has been raving during the last few weeks of recipe testing and tweaking, and now, with the start of the new month, you too can come by and partake in this amazing addition to our autumn drink menu. If healthy (and always imperfect) organizational ecosystems emit love, and if love is the protagonist in seventh stories, then this little bit of caffeinated loveliness is good supporting evidence for each.

The French Toast Latté is the carefully crafted coffee drink of long time and much loved Roadie, Ava Vincent. Since it was her creation, I thought I’d let her give a bit of the background.

I’m happy to talk a little about it. We’re using real Michigan maple syrup, homemade vanilla syrup, heavy whipping cream from Calder Dairy, some sea salt, the Coffee Company’s espresso, and deliciously silky steamed milk, sprinkled with just a touch of cinnamon!! All of my favorite things. I like it because it’s so rich and delicious without being too decadent. It hits all my favorite flavors. Sweetness, a little bit of saltiness, and the fat from the heavy whipping cream really brings it all together. I like how full and round it is with the right kind of milk steaming. It’s so cozy and warm. I think our guests will love it because it’s a drink-take on some of our favorite flavors that circle around the Zingerman’s Community. French Toast is a crowd favorite (I even get memories of eating the Bakehouse’s Somodi Kalács when I drink this latte) so I wanted to turn it into a drink that people can have on their way to work even if they’re not having a full breakfast experience with us. And it goes so nicely with this cold weather!

I’m not exaggerating when I say that nearly everyone I’ve talked to at the Roadhouse is excited. And Ava’s affection for it is inspiring. If seventh stories are based on quality, care, collaboration, and lead to love, then her ties to the French Toast Latté are surely a positive love story in the making! Swing by the ‘Show and pick one up. Better still, buy two and bring one to a friend!
